FAQ
The connection drops, sites do not open, the VPN does not work in one app and other common cases
The VPN is on, but apps go without it
Check More → Apps. Right after installation it says “Allow selected apps” with an empty list — unless the subscription sent its own app list or the provider turned on the “Allow all apps” mode, no app goes through the tunnel, and Home shows the warning “Apps are not going through the VPN”. Check the ones that need the VPN. Details in Basic setup.
The connection drops while the phone is in a pocket
Android puts background apps to sleep. In More → Connection turn on:
- Unrestricted battery — lift the restriction for the app.
- Always-on connection — turn on always-on VPN in the system.
If the first request hangs after sleep, More → Network → Keep the tunnel active while the screen is off helps — at the cost of noticeably more battery use.
Xiaomi, Huawei, Honor, Samsung, Oppo and Vivo also have their own autostart and “memory protection” lists — add the app there by hand.
Nothing loads after switching from Wi-Fi to mobile internet
Check that More → Network → Drop connections when the network changes is on (it is by default): then apps reconnect at once. The first delay tests after a network change may be too high — repeat the test a few seconds later.
The delay is red or shows a dash
Red — the server answers slower than 400 ms (or slower than the provider's limit), a red dash — it did not answer. Tap the lightning on the Servers tab and pick another server.
Auto selection does not switch by itself
Most likely a server in the auto selection group is pinned by hand — it says “Pinned” under it. Tap it again so the group picks by itself again.
A server has a snowflake badge
The server failed the automatic check on your network: access to it may be throttled. Try another server. If you want to use this one, check first that the connection does not break, and tell the provider. Details in Connecting and servers.
The server list is empty
The reason is on the card: the subscription expired, the traffic ran out, the device limit, the device is not identified or the provider sent no servers. What to do — in Common errors.
A site or an app does not work through the VPN
- Try another server.
- Banking apps and some government services may refuse a VPN — uncheck them in More → Apps. If nothing is checked there but all apps go through the tunnel (your provider set it so), pick “Deny selected apps” and check them.
- If devices on your home network (router, printer, TV) do not open, turn on More → Network → Bypass private network (on by default).
The internet is gone completely
Turn the tunnel off and check whether the network works without it. If everything is fine without the tunnel — switch the server and connect again. If that does not help — update the subscription and collect a log (below).
How to collect a log
- More → Logs → Core log — recording starts.
- Reproduce the problem.
- Go back to the app and tap the stop recording button in the header.
- Open the saved log and tap the export button in the header. Attach the file to your message.
A log may contain the addresses of servers and sites you opened. Send it only to people you trust.
Where to see the version
More → About — the app version and the Clod Core version.
How to switch the language or theme
More → Look and behavior: “Dark mode” (follow the system, light, dark) and “Language” (system default, English, Russian).
Widget, tile and shortcuts
The 1×1 widget is added from the home screen, the tile — from the quick settings editor, the Toggle, Connect and Disconnect shortcuts — with a long press on the app icon. All of them switch the tunnel without opening the app.
Automation: Tasker and the like
The app understands the external commands “start”, “stop” and “toggle”. They are blocked by default, so that another app cannot turn off the VPN without asking. To allow them — More → Look and behavior → Allow external control.
